Lost & Found Pets
If you have lost your pet, act quickly! The
first 24 hours can make a difference in finding your pet. Please
visit the shelter in person to see if your pet is here and put up
flyers about your lost pet in your neighborhood.
The Charlottesville-Albemarle SPCA can only
accept stray animals found in the City of Charlottesville and Albemarle
County. This allows owners the opportunity to find their animals
in the county where they live and lost them. If you find a lost
pet please take that pet to the animal control facility in the county
where it was found. Other area shelters are listed in the right
sidebar.

If you have lost a pet, click the “Found”
button. If you have found a pet, click the “Lost” button.
Because of the high volume of incoming animals
and the high volume of lost reports we can not be held responsible
for finding your pet. It is recommended that you visit the shelter
every three to four days. This will allow you to see every animal
that comes through the building. When an animal comes in with no
collar or ID it is held for six days prior to being put up for adoption.
If it comes in with a collar or ID it is held for eleven days.
